It was fun playing with all the little details in this close up image. Every brush stroke owning its place. I was drawn to the colour, unique petal shape and lighting in the reference image. This was the first floral painting I've created in a close up format and also the first time I've painted in lighter tones. This painting is created in oils and involved lots and lots of layers to get the exact look I was after - light and airy. I don't know about you, but it draws me in at the center and has me looking around for ages!
